She grew up in Avalon, Pennsylvania, with a grandmother who didn t speak English. LoPresti didn t speak Italian, and her father busy in the grocery store he ran wasn t available to interpret for the two, so they communicated with body language and signs. After LoPresti graduated from California University of Pennsylvania, she entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Millvale, Pennsylvania, in 1970. She will celebrate her 50th jubilee of profession this year. ....
Mary Ann Imblum Friday, April 16, 2021 10:30 AM Mary Ann Imblum, a member of St. Luke Parish in Woodburn, died March 29. Born in Woodburn June 22,1955, she graduated from Woodburn High School and attended Chemeketa Community College. Stolen as an infant and rescued, Mary Ann was grateful for her life. She was a vessel of loving service and had a spiritual “sixth sense” of discernment: she was a Benedictine Oblate of Mount Angel Abbey, where she worked the switchboard, fussed and prayed over the monks there, and assisted in medical caregiving for retired abbots, and then for her parents. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and was well known to help any soul in any way needed – a servant in every way. She had severe physical sufferings which she offered as prayers for others.
