Pima JTED expands healthcare training as local demand increases


As the world is more focused than ever on the importance of medical professionals, local high school students are gaining more opportunities to explore and experience the growing healthcare industry. Pima JTED, a technical education district comprising 14 local high schools, is expanding its Health Care Professions program with two new options: Comprehensive Health Care Technician and Pharmacy Technician. 
For Pima JTED Health Care Professions program manager Beth Francis, the expansion is a long time coming, and especially critical in the time of COVID.
“I’d been thinking of this for maybe three to five years,” Francis said. “And then COVID hit and I was trying to be very creative with programs we could do virtually and then move into a hybrid learning model where the kids can gain their skills and then still be competent and have patient safety in mind.”  ....

Essex County Community Foundation Looks to Advance Racial Equity and Racial Justice

A 13-member committee made up of a diverse cross-section of local leaders is joining Essex County Community Foundation in advancing racial equity and racial justice within the organization and throughout Essex County.
The Foundation said in a statement that the decision to embed racial equity and justice as a foundational piece to all of the organization’s work came last year as COVID-19 began to “disproportionately ravage communities of color, awareness of violence against Black people increased and events surrounding the presidential election revealed the depth of our nation’s veiled racism.”

HENDERSON, Ky. (WFIE) - The Henderson Planning Commission is giving the green light to three rezonings as part of a larger solar farm project.
The Commission approved two requests from Tommy Tapp and one from Jeffrey and Beth Francis, all for the rezoning of property to allow for those farms to take shape.
Those rezoning approvals now move to the Henderson Fiscal Court.

Essex County Community Foundation to Distribute Additional $1.2 Million in COVID-19 Relief Aid

Over the next four months, Essex County Community Foundation, which serves the 34 cities and towns of Essex County, will distribute $1.2 million to select area nonprofits serving and supporting those most vulnerable to the devastating effects of the pandemic.
This new wave of COVID aid comes from the Baker-Polito Administration’s $10 million Community Foundations Grant Program for COVID-19 Relief. Announced in late November, the program is administered by the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development and the Department of Housing and Community Development through community foundations across the state.
“Like other Massachusetts community foundations, ECCF has developed a deep knowledge of and trusted relationships with the nonprofits in our service area and is therefore in a unique position to deliver state funds locally,” said Foundation President and CEO Beth Francis, who also serves as the co-chair of the new Massachusetts Communit ....
