Isabella Jones hopes to one day join a dance company overseas. “Most years you might get 10 New Zealanders accepted into the school of dance. This year is slightly different because of Covid. “There were no internationals, just the people who showed up to auditions.” Jones hoped training at the school would prepare her for dancing at the next level. “I feel like it will set me in good stead. On [the school’s website] it says 75 per cent of their students do make it into a professional career or a company, which is reassuring.” She wants to be a contemporary dancer and there were companies overseas she would like to join, including one in the Netherlands. ....
