Janet Marie (Hallberg) Kloster, 82, of Willmar, died Saturday, January 16th at Bethesda Grand. A family service will be held at Green Lake Free Lutheran Church with interment in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. www.hafh.org
Janet Marie Hallberg Kloster was born to Esther and Roy Hallberg on November 3rd, 1938. She grew up on their farm with her brother, Don, and sister, Yvonne. She attended Kandiyohi Whittier School until eighth grade and then went to Willmar High School – graduating in 1956. She remained close friends with several high school classmates, and they continue to call themselves the “56ers.” Janet then worked at the Willmar Public Library and drove the bookmobile (one time, even driving it in the ditch!). ....

WHEELING Annual events to celebrate the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. have been canceled in Wheeling this year, but a remembrance of the civil rights leader will take place online.
MLK Celebration Committee Co-Chairs Rev. Ignatius Sasmita, S.J. and Ron Scott Jr. have announced the annual march slated for Sunday and other events “have been cancelled out of an abundance of caution and to adhere with the State of West Virginia guidelines.” ....

MLK Celebration Committee Honors Four for Community Service | News, Sports, Jobs

WHEELING Two women and two men who have long worked to build better communities will be honored by the Wheeling Martin Luther King Celebration Committee in 2021. Plans for the Jan. 17 Martin Luther King Celebration and March for Justice are still up in the air due to the pandemic. More information will be made available when plans are finalized.
Ellen Saunders of Moundsville and Judi Saunders of Bridgeport will receive the Rosa Parks Award, and Daniel Dudley of Wellsburg and Chase Watts of Martins Ferry will receive the Martin Luther King Award for their contributions in eliminating racial inequity and promoting peace and harmony. ....

Today we celebrate Mrs. Lee Ivory Bonner McDaniel.
This ninth daughter of Mr. Erastus “Rassie” and Mrs. Lula B. Slaton Bonner was born in Ruston, Louisiana, on March 23, 1930, the eleventh of twelve children in her family.
She departed this life during the morning hours of December 22, 2020 in Lake Charles, Louisiana having dedicated her life to giving.
At an early age she became a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Ruston, Louisiana and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. Growing up during the Great Depression in a large family living in rural North Louisiana, she witnessed how faith, discipline and love conquers adversity. ....
