Hampshire-based Yellow Door welcomes Domestic Abuse Act

The Domestic Abuse Act is a welcome step in the right direction in cracking down on violence and abuse at home, according to local charity, Yellow Door. The law is said to protects millions of people who experience domestic abuse and strengthens measures to tackle perpetrators. New measures were added to the bill to fight controlling or coercive behaviour, target revenge porn and end the rough sex defence involving death or serious injury.

Landmark Domestic Abuse Bill receives Royal Assent  The bill provides protection to millions of people who experience domestic abuse and strengthens measures to tackle perpetrators. From: 29 April 2021 Today (29 April), the Domestic Abuse Bill has passed both Houses of Parliament and been signed into law.   The Domestic Abuse Act will provide further protections to the millions of people who experience domestic abuse and strengthen measures to tackle perpetrators.   For the first time in history there will be a wide-ranging legal definition of domestic abuse which incorporates a range of abuses beyond physical violence, including emotional, coercive or controlling behaviour, and economic abuse.
