(WAFB) - The Southern womenâs basketball team fought to the end but dropped a close one to Grambling on Saturday, Jan. 9. The Lady Jaguars (1-7, 1-1 SWAC) fell 67-64 to the Lady Tigers (2-3, 1-0 SWAC). Amani McWain recorded a double-double for Southern with 17 points and 10 rebounds. She was 7-of-11 from the field and 1-of-2 on 3-pointers. Caitlin Davis added 12 points. Raven White and Taneara Moore each chipped in 10 points. ....

After coming back from a 16-point deficit against TCU to win, two days later it was the Lady Raiders building a big lead early and hold on to it. Tech led by as much as 25 in the game against the Lady Jaguars and never trailed. The Lady Raiders improved their shooting performance, knocking down 56.8% of their shots from the field and 58.3% from beyond the three-point line. The team got a bit sloppy late in the 4th quarter going on a nearly four minute scoring drought. They finished with 22 turnovers but 19 assist. ....

The final score was 79-55. After sitting out of the Baylor game, Genovea Johnson picked right up where she left off making her presence known by disrupting the opposing team defense driving to the lane and creating shots for her teammates. ....
