Rs1.6bln released for petroleum sector projects

ISLAMABAD: The government disbursed Rs1.6 billion during the first nine months of the current fiscal year to execute various petroleum sector projects, according to the official data.
As of April 2, the government released the amount under the public sector development program 2020/21 against the total allocation of Rs1.8 billion.
As per the initial, PSDP allocation details, the government had earmarked an amount of Rs1.6 billion for five ongoing projects, out of which Rs100 million were meant for expansion and up-gradation of Pakistan Petroleum Corehouse, Rs6.5 million for exploration and evaluation of coal in Nosham and Bahlol areas of Balochistan, Rs303 million for supply of 13.5 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) gas to Dhabeji special economic zone and Rs1.1 billion allocated for the supply of 30 mmcfd gas at the doorstep (zero point) of Rashakai special economic zone Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. ....

​Doha: Qatar Petroleum entered into an agreement with Shell to become a partner in two exploration blocks offshore the Republic of Namibia.
Under the terms of the agreement, which is subject to customary approvals, Qatar Petroleum will hold a 45% participating interest in the PEL 39 exploration license pertaining to Block 2913A and Block 2914B, while Shell (the Operator) will hold a 45% interest, and the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR) will hold the remaining 10% interest.

ISLAMABAD: The Petroleum Division has rebutted an article titled Investigate the Petroleum Losses published in The News on Saturday.IN a statement the Petroleum Division said that the Article is misleading & full of factual errors and seems to target senior officials of the Ministry based on some false assumptions showing lack of understanding of corporate governance environment in the country, says press release issued by Ministry of Energy and Petroleum Division.
First, the article appreciates the decision of the government to conduct forensic audit of the recent petrol shortage. But surprisingly without waiting for the outcome of the audit, the writer latches on to the persona of the Secretary Petroleum by falsely claiming that the losses sustained by OGDCL and PPL are due to the “incompetence” of the secretary. ....
