On June 4 and 5, the Red River Valley Tourism Association will host its annual Highway 82/287 giant yard sale that runs through 15 towns and across more than 350 miles of highway. Individuals from across the country drive down to attend the massive yard sale that stretches from Quanah to New Boston. Each town is responsible for its own vendors, advertising and sales. âItâs a good time for people to have a garage sale,â said Becky Semple, the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce tourism director. 2021 is the 14th year of participation in the Highway Sale for Lamar County. âNot only does the highway sale offer numerous sales and savings, it also allows tourists to experience what the small towns of the Red River Valley have to offer. âEach town will have its own little personality going on,â Semple said. ....
The Paris Pump Track near the Love Civic Center and the Trail de Paris from Collegiate Drive to Loop 286 will be closed through Sunday as Paris hosts the Easton Southwest Shootout. Hosted at the Love Civic Center, the event is now in its 14th year and is organized by the Archery Shooters Association, bringing archers from across the country and the globe to the Red River Valley for a weekend of friendly competition and practice. âArrows will be flying, and we want everyone to be safe,â said Becky Semple, Lamar County Chamber of Commerce tourism director. Paris lost a dear friend last week when Eddie Clement left this world to join the saints in heaven. His generosity, his servant heart and his love of God, church and family all are part of the legacy he leaves behind. Born in 1965, Eddie grew up in Duncanville and played soccer for Duncanville High School, where he graduated in 1983. He graduated from University of Texas-Arlington in 1990 with a business management degree and joined the Frank Homer Sr. family when he married Monica Homer in 1994. The couple moved to Paris in 2000 after Eddie joined the family Sonic business and became operations manager for its Paris operations. He and brother-in-law, Mark Homer, became partners in the business after the death of the family monarch. ....
