STANISLAUS COUNTY, Calif. After Stanislaus County missed their window to transition to the red tier and reopen schools this week, county leaders are calling out Governor Gavin Newsom to let kids return to the classroom.
Modesto City Schools (MCS) was ready to welcome back some of their junior high and high school students in a hybrid learning model, but, due to the red tier delay, it didn’t happen this week.

Facial recognition software developed by China-based Dahua, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of video surveillance technology, purports to detect the race of individuals caught on camera and offers to alert police clients when it identifies members of the Turkic ethnic group Uighurs.
Dahua, though among Chinese companies sanctioned by the U.S. government, has a growing presence in the country with sales and support offices in Irvine and Houston. Despite restrictions on its business within the country, the company struck a deal, reportedly valued at $10 million, with Amazon for 1,500 thermal cameras and there are 80 public contracts to purchase the company’s equipment in California alone.

Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) Harry Joseph Zeznanski Jr., 64, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 26, 2021 at UPMC Bedford Hospital, Snake Spring Township.
He was born Sept. 30, 1956, to the late Harry Sr. and Lolita Zeznanski in Chicago, Ill.
On March 24, 1978, Harry married Cathy (DeLozier) Zeznanski; together they shared 43 years of wedded bliss.
He was survived by his wife; daughter Samantha Smeltzer (Shawn); daughter Julie Crist (Jason); and son Eric Zeznanski (Lauren); and mother-in-law Catherine Weyant. He was a very proud Pap to Katie, Alex, Amanda, Izzy and Odin. Also niece Becky Luckenbach (Greg) and her family, who were like his kids. He had many brothers and sisters-in-law as well as nieces and nephews.
