Registration is 7 - 7:45 a.m.; the Fun Run starts at 8 a.m., and the 5K starts right after. “There has been a change of venue for the registration and start and finish of the race and we have been busy measuring and marking our new route,” said Washington Recreation Committee, in a news release. The Committee will now register, start, and finish the race at the back parking lot of the Gibbs Library, 40 Old Union Rd. in Washington, Maine. “But don’t worry, there is still plenty of challenge with the hills of Washington,” said the release. ....
Annual paddle races to be held on Washington Pond Share Contributed photo WASHINGTON A third annual paddle race is to be held Saturday, July 10, on Washington Pond, Razorville Road. Sign-in will be held from 8 to 9 a.m. at the boat landing. Races are to start at 9 a.m. There is no entry fee or prizes. The event will include youth and adult races. The paddle race is sponsored by the Washington Recreation Committee and the Washington Lakes & Watershed Association. After the races, the Ladies Guild will hold its annual Strawberry Festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Washington Fire Department, 42 Old Union Road. ....
