Do you think there are other worthy venues for funding?

WHILST I wholeheartedly support the much-needed financial support Castle Howard, North York Moors Railway, Ryedale Folk Museum, Palace Cinema in Malton, Rural Arts North Yorkshire and several other worthy venues have received, reported on the front page article of the Gazette & Herald (April 7), three of these venues have already received quite a substantial sum from the Government’s Cultural scheme during the pandemic but I feel there are other equally worthy venues in need of financial support and are part of our heritage in North Yorkshire.
Here are a few worthy venues I’m sure would be more than pleased with a little more financial support from the Government: The Kirk Theatre in Pickering, will it reopen, even though the Government have hinted theatres will reopen but obviously with social distancing in place? Beck Isle Museum, a lovely museum about rural life in Pickering and the mining era in Rosedale, Eden Camp Modern History, The Museum, Malton, Hungate Commun ....

Tributes to man of many talents

TRIBUTES have been paid to an open-hearted gentleman with an obsession for collecting historical items.
Sid Woodhams, who amassed a huge amount of memorabilia, which forms part of the Woodhams-Stone Collection, passed away last week aged 83.
Di Keal, founder member of the Woodhams-Stone Collection and friend to Sid said he was a truly unique character who touched the lives of many people and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Sid was a consummate collector of social history artefacts, man of many talents and a generous, open hearted gentleman.
A lifelong and passionate collector of social history items, many of which relate to Malton and Norton, he was delighted to see his long held dream of finding a home for ‘his’ collection – and that of friend and fellow magpie John Stone – when the Malton and Norton Heritage Centre opened its doors in March 2020. ....
