Jackson County residents may find it difficult to find warm shelter this year due to COVID

This story was updated on Saturday, Feb. 13 to clarify information regarding the Jackson Interfaith Shelter, which remains open 24/7 for those in need.
JACKSON, MI Many facilities that have been open as warming centers for people needing shelter in the past are unable to be open this winter.
With the slow rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine, venues that previously met this need are closed this year to prevent the spread of the virus.
The Jackson District Library Napoleon Branch is unavailable this year as a warming center as a result of the limited space, said Spokesman Will Forgrave. Due to limited space, proper social distancing can’t be maintained and residents are asked to only come to the library if they are quickly picking something up. ....
