Seven years ago, a sinkhole was discovered near Boone Dam, repair of which necessitated a drawdown of the lake, leaving many lakeside homeowners and their property literally high and dry. With the repair work working toward a conclusion and Boone Lakeâs water level on the rise once more, lakeside hot spots are getting ready for business once again. Jayâs Boat Dock, one of the more popular venues on Boone Lake, has opened with a surprise for this seasonâs lake-goers: the opening of a new restaurant on-site, Nickâs Anchored on Boone. ....
Crews searching Boone Lake recovered a body believed to be that of David Schreck on Saturday, according to information released by Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal. Schreck, of Johnson City, was last seen going into the water near the 300 block of Carroll Creek Road on Tuesday morning. Members of the Washington County Sheriffâs Office, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and Washington County EMS found the body at about 10 a.m. in the area where authorities had been searching for Schreck. The body was sent for an autopsy and positive identification. The investigation continues, but foul play is not suspected. ....
