The 40-acre grow was found in Jail Canyon, a rarely visited canyon on the western side of the Panamint Mountains, the National Park Service said in a news release. The area is near the border between California and Nevada. While California legalized marijuana in 2016, it remains prohibited on federal lands. It s not known who was cultivating the spot, but a park spokesperson told National Parks Traveler that rangers flew over the area to photograph the extent and to (hopefully) encourage the growers to abandon the site. ....
The body of John Pennington is believed to have found at Grand Canyon National Park A body has been found in Grand Canyon National Park during the search for a Kentucky man who had been missing for more than a week. The National Park Service said in a statement that the body found on Wednesday alongside a motorcycle is believed to be John Pennington, a 40-year-old man from Walton, Kentucky. Park rangers found the body approximately 465 feet below the rim of the South Kaibab Trailhead after multiple days of search and rescue operations. Pennington had been considered missing since Sunday, when the National Park Service announced the start of their search. ....
