The “Test to Stay” program aims to keep schools open even as the district weathers the largest outbreak yet. Tanzi Propst/Park Record Park City’s secondary students returned to school on Monday after nearly two weeks of remote learning, but as per usual during the pandemic, it was far from a typical school day. Throughout the morning, the district summoned 900 students from Treasure Mountain Junior High School and Park City High School to the high school gym for rapid COVID-19 antigen tests on the first day of what officials call the “Test to Stay” program. ....
Park Record file photo The Park City School District will host a series of opportunities for Parkites to receive a free rapid COVID-19 test, the first of which is scheduled for Jan. 19. The testing is open to everyone in the Park City community. The routine asymptomatic testing is being done in partnership with the Utah Department of Health’s mobile lab, TestUtah. The testing will be conducted in the Eccles Center lobby area at Park City High School. Testing will be done on the following days: • Jan. 19, noon – 7 p.m. • Jan. 25, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. • Jan. 26, noon – 7 p.m. The district said the free testing events will also include the launch of its “Test To Stay” program for students and staff at PCHS and Treasure Mountain Junior High School. Credit Park City School District / PCSD The superintendent of the South Summit School District has accepted a new position with the Park City School District as Human Resources Director. He will make the move in the middle of the school year – just after the Christmas holidays. South Summit Superintendent Shad Sorenson gave his resignation a few months ago to accept the job of Chief Human Resources Officer for the Park City School District. “ I’m looking forward to that opportunity to continue to work in Summit County. It certainly was not a decision that was easy for me,” Sorenson said. “I love what I’m doing, and I love the Kamas Valley. I have a master’s degree in Human Resources and I believe there is a time and season for all things and believe that Dr. Herase is going to bring some assets and skills to our district that is going to benefit us at this time and hope that I am able to provide that same positive contribution to Park City School Distr ....
