While fashion brands in the U.S. are working hard to reopen stores, they’ve been slower to move their employees back into offices. But, now that vaccinations are becoming widespread and business is happening IRL, some have made the decision to reinvest in office space.
Officine Générale, a French brand that just received a funding round for expanding in the U.S., is opening an office in New York this month. It plans to open 10 stores in the country over the next three years. Founder Pierre Mahéo, who is based in Paris, said that even though he typically visits New York around once a month, he and his team felt they couldn’t get a solid handle on the market without some sort of office space in the area.
BOSTON The corruption and fraud trial against Jasiel Correia II continued Tuesday, with a focus on allegations that the former Fall River mayor extorted hundreds of thousands of dollars from marjiuana companies. The day was capped by stunning testimony from Hildegar Camara, one of four alleged co-conspirators.
Camara, who said he considered Correia to be like a son, has pleaded guilty to two counts of extortion, two counts of extortion conspiracy, and two counts of making false statements to federal prosecutors twice, on June 17 and 24, in relation to helping Correia solicit bribes from marijuana companies seeking local approval to set up shop in Fall River.
Pedestrian struck by vehicle in Mount Holly

Mount Holly Police are investigating a Friday night hit and run that sent one man to the hospital.
According to Mount Holly Chief of Police Don Roper, a motorist found a pedestrian lying lying in the road on N.C. 27 near Globe Street and called the police at around 11 p.m.
The man, whose name has not been released, was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. Would say it was serious injuries, but I am not sure what his status is today, said Roper on Saturday. He is still in the hospital.

A man was shot to death in the parking lot of a club in southeast Houston.
The incident happened around 1:46 a.m. Thursday at the Red Rooster Club on West Fuqua Street and Almeda Road, authorities said.
Police said they were called out to the scene after reports of gunshots. When they arrived, they found the 35-year-old victim suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Police said he was given CPR but did not survive his injuries.
Investigators said there was an altercation inside the club, which escalated and ended in gunfire in the parking lot.
