Carrabelle Culture Crawl
The Carrabelle History Museum is hosting the Carrabelle Culture Crawl on Saturday, March 20, 2021, 10 am to 3 pm. This cultural event is a free celebration of amazing local culture, art, music, history, food, and fun in the heart of downtown Carrabelle. This is a wonderful opportunity to add a bit more fun as you experience the wonderful local culture, art, history, and food that Carrabelle already has to offer.
The Carrabelle History Museum will be bringing live, outdoor (socially-distanced) music to the streets of Carrabelle, from Florida folk music to more current Country and Rock music to favorite oldies. Musicians like Susan David, Christy Crandall, Lewis Christie (with his keyboard), Cody Barber and Highway 98 featuring Tom Magnam and David Cosgrove will be performing outdoors for all to enjoy.
This year marks the bicentennial of the official transfer of Florida, once a Spanish territory, to the United States in 1821. The Spanish ruled these shores off and on since Juan Ponce de Leónâs 1513 landing, but there are few signs of this legacy, save for the occasional historic site and place names like Boca Raton and Islamorada. This three-day Northern Florida road trip strings together landmarks with natural areas, all with unexpected connections to the stateâs Spanish heritage.
What to drive
To truly get in the spirit as you drive along the Gulf of Mexico or under Spanish mossâdraped canopy roads, youâll need a convertible.
The circus will ‘Prevail’
The show goes on for the Circus Arts Conservatory, which has put together a new circus production that will be presented in front of live audiences and be available for home streaming. “Prevail” features a number of veterans of Cirque du Soleil shows who have been unable to perform for the last year because of the coronavirus pandemic. Some have been working as coaches with the Sarasota Sailor Circus. “Prevail” will be presented Friday through Sunday and March 12-14 in the Sailor Circus Arena, 2075 Bahia Vista St., Sarasota. The lineup of talent includes aerial artist Alanna Baker, aerial strap artist Darren Trull, Native American hoop dancers Eric Hernandez and Shandien LaRance, slack wire artist Evgeny Vasilenko, silk artist Giulia Piolanti, Chinese pole artist Oli Poitras and unicyclists and acrobats Marie-Lee and Philippe, who competed in 2016 on “America’s Got Talent.” All are donating their time and performance to support CAC.
