The Senate is intent on sticking with L3Harris.
The House and Senate are now aligned on funding for the Statewide Law Enforcement Radio System, and new proviso language indicates the Senate is intent on sticking with the current vendor.
The current year budget included about $21.6 million in SLERS contract payments, but after initially removing the funding, the Senate nearly doubled the total spend for the system
Overall, the Senate is pitching $36.5 million for SLERS in the upcoming budget year, including $19 million in contract payments, $12.5 million to lease radio towers, $3.5 million for “increased contracted services” related to the system and $1.5 million for more staff to administer the system at the Department of Management Services. ....

Specialty plate to help beat childhood cancer
3,000 vehicle owners need to commit to new plate to get it issued; funds will support research

A group of parents recently got a specialty license plate approved by the Florida legislature.
It took years to get the childhood cancer-themed plate passed. Now they have one more thing to do before production can begin: Three thousand people need to commit to a plate.
The golden yellow license plate can be purchased at www.floridakidscancerplate.com.
Gold is the ribbon color for childhood cancer.
“I think it’ll be really visible on the road, which is nice,” said executive director of the Beat Childhood Cancer Foundation, Kyle Matthews. ....
