He was born April 16, 1959, in Wilmington.
He graduated from John T. Hoggard High School with the Class of 1977. After attending Western Carolina University, he obtained an electronics degree from Cape Fear Community College.
He had a long career in the installation and repair of fiber optics with SIECOR. He later became an independent contractor and the owner of Taylor Communications in Greensboro. His hobbies included handyman, interior remodeler, auto-mechanic, YouTube enthusiast and he enjoyed fishing.
He was always proud to have “fixed the unfixable.” Richard will be remembered for always lending an ear or a helping hand to those in need and never meeting a stranger.
Robert Arnold ‘Bob,’ ‘Bobby’ Taylor Jr.
CHARLESTON, S.C. Robert Arnold “Bob,” “Bobby” Taylor Jr., 62, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018. He was born March 28, 1956, in Wilmington, North Carolina.
He graduated from John T. Hoggard High School with the Class of 1974. He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry from North Carolina State University with the Class of 1979. While attending NCSU, he became president of FarmHouse International Fraternity, motto: “Builder of Men.” He earned his Master’s Degree in Administration from Western Kentucky University in 1980.
Bob’s strong management and leadership skills were evident throughout his lifetime. He began in 1981 to 1984 with Roadway as an inbound terminal manager, and then as account sales manager for Gelco from 1984 to 1985. A long career with PepsiCo followed from 1985 to 1997.
