Hopkins students earn trophy for March of Dimes fundraiser

Ashley Grundy’s second grade class at Hopkins Elementary raised $2,400 for the March of Dimes. The school as a whole raised a total of $8,668.
Students in Robyn Cheuvront’s kindergarten class at Hopkins Elementary raised $2,600 for the March of Dimes. It was  one of two classes that went “above and beyond” to collect money for the nonprofit organization.

The number of candidates hoping to be the next sheriff of Pulaski County has grown to three.
Detective Lieutenant Bobby Jones of the Pulaski County Sheriff s Office announced this week that he s running for the office, joining retired Kentucky State Police Post 11 Commander Todd Dalton and PCSO Captain Troy McLin.
Sheriff Greg Speck s decision not to run for a third term opened the door for Jones to attempt his first political campaign. The lieutenant added that he d been approached by several people encouraging him to run for the office, which like other county and city posts, will be decided by voters next year. ....

Pulaski Schools moving forward with supplemental school year

After months of meeting with limited attendance due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pulaski County Board of Education returned to their normal seating arrangement allowing for public attendance. The Pulaski County Board of Education is moving ahead with plans to accommodate students seeking a supplemental school year.
In their regular meeting on Tuesday evening, school board members approved the requests of 263 students districtwide.
Basically the board has to approve or not approve all requests, Pulaski Schools Superintendent Patrick Richardson noted before making his recommendation to approve. It s an all or none situation. ....
