All set for Broward County Segment II shore protection work

USACE’s Jacksonville District said in their latest announcement that construction will begin soon for the Broward County Segment II shore protection renourishment project.
The USACE contractor, Eastman Aggregate Enterprises, LLC, of Lake Worth, Florida, will be at the site today. Sand placement will take place as soon as April 9 and no later than Monday, April 12, USACE said.
The contractor will place approximately 220,000 cubic yards of beach-quality sand onto eroded Atlantic Ocean shoreline in central Broward County. The placement will begin from NE 7
th St. in Pompano Beach to the Terramar Street in Fort Lauderdale. ....

Continental Heavy Civil Corporation has won a $37,348,064 construction contract for the Broward County Segment III beach renourishment project.
According to the Army Corps, Broward County Segment III Shore Protection Project includes placing sand on the beaches of Dr. Von D. Mitzel-Eula Johnson State Park, Dania Beach, Hollywood and Hallandale.
This renourishment calls for the placement of approximately 840,000 cubic yards of beach-quality sand from upland sand mine(s). Dunes and coastal vegetation will also be constructed within the limits of the Park as a part of this construction contract.

The USACE Jacksonville District awarded a contract on January 11 to Eastman Aggregate Enterprises for $ 11 million for the Broward County Segment II Shore Protection Project.
The contractor will place approximately 390,000 cubic yards of beach-quality sand along 8.9 miles of eroded Atlantic Ocean shoreline in central Broward County, between the Hillsboro Inlet and the Port Everglades Inlet.
The project area includes the municipalities of Pompano Beach, Sea Ranch Lakes, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and the northern portion of Fort Lauderdale, to the area approximately one half mile south of Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.
According to USACE, the scheme will help provide storm protection for the coastal population and infrastructure, habitat for several endangered animals including sea turtles, and recreational beaches for visitors and ....
