A partner in an apartment being built in west London that partially collapsed last week was banned from building new homes to sell in Ontario, and allegedly owes more than $700,000 to settle claims for other properties he built, The Free Press has learned.
Shaun Stevens, a partner in Brock Development Group, lost his licence in October 2017 with Tarion Warranty Corp., an agency established by the Ontario government to administer the province’s new home warranty program, a Tarion spokesperson said. ....

Body of second worker recovered from scene of building collapse in London, Ont.

TORONTO - Workers sifting through the rubble of a partially collapsed building in London, Ont., recovered the body of a second victim, city officials said on Sunday of the construction mishap that also killed the father of an infant.
The careful extrication of the worker occurred just before midnight Saturday, more than a day after the incident that also injured four others, amid fears of a further collapse, they said in a release
“Earlier recovery efforts were slowed because the building was unstable following the collapse,” the city said. “For recovery, portions of the building were carefully dismantled until the structure was stable enough to recover the individual without putting emergency workers at risk.” ....
