Wicked Local A two-alarm fire broke out in a three-story apartment building in Packard s Corner Monday evening, displacing about 30 Brookline residents and filling the sky with black smoke. The Brookline and Boston fire departments responded to the multi-unit apartment building at 16 Hamilton Road shortly after 4 p.m., according to Brookline Fire Department Chief of Operations Keith Flaherty. There, the firefighters found heavy fire conditions on the building s third floor and quickly worked to put out the fire, which extended from the right side of the building to the center, where there was a firewall, according to Flaherty. By about 5:30 p.m., firefighters had knocked down the heavy flames and were working on hot spots, he said. The fire s cause is under investigation. ....
