Some of the thrift stores in Kamloops will be selling things even cheaper than usual Friday.
It marks the first annual national thrift store day in Kamloops, a tradition started in the U.S. that the Thrift Seller Hospital store at 146 Victoria St. wants to carry on. With so many stores to choose from and thrift stores being so popular, we hope that it will be a successful event and grow over the years, said store spokeperson Sophie Therrien.
Plans are to offer all clothing for $1 and sell everything else for 50 per cent off, between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Every day friends Steve Purdy and Floyd Arbeau make a trip to the New Life Mission for a cup of coffee and some companionship.
But their trek from North Kamloops to the downtown mission on Monday gave them something else to be thankful for as the men were treated to a turkey dinner, courtesy of mission staff and volunteers. This helps a lot, said Purdy, 50, who is unemployed.
He enjoyed two plates of turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing and packaged up another helping to take home. Arbeau did the same.
Purdy and Arbeau were joined by about 150 others who lined up out the door of the mission s dinning room in anticipation of the annual Thanksgiving dinner.
