Member of Holland School Board arrested for alleged rape WKBW and last updated 2021-05-12 12:28:45-04 HOLLAND, N.Y. (WKBW) â New York State police say a Holland man was arrested Tuesday for an alleged rape. According to a release, NYSP were contacted by the Lancaster Police Department on April 22 on a possible sex crime that occurred in June 2020 in the Town of Rushford. Police say after further investigation it is alleged that 46-year-old Scott Wander of Holland forcibly touched and had sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old victim while on a boat on Rushford Lake. Wander was arrested for third degree rape, forcible touching, endangering the welfare of a child, first degree unlawfully dealing with a child and sexual misconduct. He was virtually arraigned with Allegany County Supreme Court and is due to return to Town of Rushford Court in August. A full stay away order of protection was issued. ....

Ride-sharing service Uber is taking a stand against domestic violence and will now offer free rides to domestic violence victims looking to escape their abusers. The company is partnering with the New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence to make it all happen. Uber drivers in eight cities, including Buffalo, will pick up abuse survivors fleeing violent situations and drive them to seek help, completely free of charge. Organizers say that, due to the pandemic, many survivors have been isolated at home with their abusers, and a free ride could be their first step on the journey to freedom. ....

The ride service announced it will begin offering free rides for those looking for services or to get away from an unsafe situation. Uber is partnering with the New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NYSCADV) to provide some 1,000 free rides among eight of their member programs in Buffalo, Westchester, New York City, and Long Island. The effort is part of Uber s Driving Change initiative to provide $5 million in grants over five years with the goal of supporingt US organizations working to prevent, address, and respond to gender-based violence. ....
