ICG rescues 10 fishermen stranded off New Mangalore ANI | Updated: May 27, 2021 19:45 IST New Delhi [India], May 27 (ANI): The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Thursday rescued 10 fishermen from a boat stranded in the sea, 20 nautical miles off the coast of New Mangalore Port. In a swift operation amidst rough seas Indian Coast Guard Ship Rajdoot rescued 10 TamilNadu Fishermen onboard Fishing Boat Lord of the Ocean off New Mangalore in distress due to engine failure. Boat safely towed to New Mangalore and handed over to fisheries authorities, the ICG tweeted. According to a press release, all the ashore, afloat and aviation units of ICG are maintaining a high state of readiness on the eastern seaboard for any response measures arising in the aftermath of the Yaas storm. ....

The boat was adrift in sea due to engine failure. A Coast Guard ship towed it to safety to Mangaluru. The fishing boat (IND-TN-15-MM-5338) named ‘Lord of The Ocean’ had sent a distress message to the Indian Coast Guard Maritime Rescue Sub-Coordination Centre, New Mangalore (MRSC). Coast Guard Karnataka immediately diverted its patrol boat for technical assistance and Indian Coast Guard ship Rajdoot was sent from Mangalore Port for rescue operations, a release said. ....

INS Shardul carrying oxygen cylinders from Kuwait arrives in Mangaluru Duration: 01:37 INS Shardul carrying medical aid from Kuwait arrived at New Mangalore Port. The medical aid was received by New Mangalore Port Trust authority on Tuesday. Aid included 11 oxygen tankers, two semi-trailers with liquid oxygen & 1,200 cylinders. The medical assistance was sent by Indian community support group in Kuwait. Port authority handed over the consignment to Indian Red Cross society members. The ship has been deployed for transportation of liquid medical Oxygen from Gulf countries. The deployment is being taken as part of Operation Samudra Setu II, launched by the Indian Navy in support of the national effort to fight COVID-19 pandemic, according to a press release here on Tuesday. INS Shardul was deployed on May 3 to Kuwait for embarkation of liquid medical Oxygen containers. The ship embarked eight International Standardisation Organisation (ISO) containers, two semi-trailers of liquid medical Oxygen and 1200 Oxygen cylinders at Kuwait from May 12-16.
