Behind the food at Ed s Smokehouse
The name is Ed’s Smokehouse, but Liz Hampton, Ed’s older sister, is running the show these days.
“It’s the same thing, same menu, cooked the same way nothing’s changed,” Hampton said about the restaurant that’s been in business six years at 1009 McKinley Avenue NW in Canton.
“We call it barbecue, soul food. It’s American-style cooking, basically,” Hampton said. “We cook anything. We might have lasagna or taco salad.”
“He did. We kept the name in his honor. I also have two brothers named Ed. Eddie Jr. is the griller here. My son R.J. grills, too.”

EAST LIVERPOOL For every young team, getting over the hump and learning how to win is paramount for success.
For the East Liverpool boys basketball team, those circumstances are no different. The Potters fell to Steubenville, 72-66, in a closely-contested game on Friday.
The Potters previously lost to Big Red on Dec. 30, 64-63.
Steubenville moves to 10-3 and has won seven straight contests, while the Potters fall to 6-3.
“Steubenville is extremely good and extremely athletic,” East Liverpool coach Nate Conley said. “They work hard and they rebound the ball well. I thought we played solid through three quarters. I thought we played really good basketball for three quarters but just didn’t get that offensive rebound when we needed to.”

It became embarrassing, our dependency on Perla, a Filipino BYOB in the East Passyunk neighborhood of Philadelphia. We took everyone there: friends visiting from out of town, my husband s colleagues from work. We started to worry that our guests would compare notes, realize we didn t eat anywhere else, and suspect that we were only saying yes to get-togethers as an excuse to go to Perla again.
