Port of NY and NJ secures funding for electrification initiatives March 9, 2021, by Naida Hakirevic The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, several port tenants, and other agencies and organizations across the state are set to receive more than $100 million for clean, equitable transportation projects. This was unveiled by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy in February this year. The governor also established the Office of Climate Action and the Green Economy that will oversee the creation of the New Jersey Council on the Green Economy. As informed, the funds were allocated from the state’s participation in the Regional Green House Gas Initiative (RGGI) and the Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust, a legal settlement from the carmaker over emissions cheating claims. ....

Gilman (1860 - 1935) known for her novel The Yellow Wallpaper, published this forty-minute one-act in her monthly magazine, The Forerunner, in 1911. Such plays were important for the suffrage movement because they could be read aloud and/or staged in private homes, bringing this controversial topic into living rooms. Phil Murphy has signed a bill (A-4410) into law which permanently establishes the Community College Opportunity Grant (CCOG) program, which will allow qualified students to attend any New Jersey community college without tuition or educational fees. “For far too long, higher education has been out of reach for countless New Jerseyans due to its high cost,” Murphy was quoted as saying in a press release. “This (law) underscores our continued commitment to college affordability, ensuring that our young people and working adults have the opportunity to earn post-secondary degrees and advance their promising careers.” ....
