NEW IBERIA, La. â Former New Iberia City Marshal Haywood Tony Migues pled guilty Tuesday to eight counts of obstruction of court records the day after he submitted his resignation to the Secretary of State s Office.
According to the court, Migues pled guilty Tuesday to eight counts of obstruction of court records and was sentenced to a total of two years suspended jail time, 90 days of house arrest, 4 years of probation and 240 hours of community service.
Migues entered an open-ended plea, which means that there was no plea agreement before entering his guilty plea.

Louisiana State Police spokesman Trooper Thomas Gossen says Migues was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail and faces eight counts of forgery, injuring public records, and malfeasance in office. Detectives received tips in January alleging multiple signatures had been forged by Migues on official court documents. Investigators say they confirmed Migues did this pertaining to multiple individuals, showing they had been served with a subpoena in lieu of making personal service.
Trooper Gossen says the investigation is active and ongoing.

Louisiana State Police Troop I says that Migues was charged and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail following an investigation into alleged falsifying of subpoena signatures. The investigation began in January as Detectives with the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations received information alleging multiple signatures had been forged by Migues on official court documents.
