According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Memorial Day is to honor military personnel who died in the service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle. A number of events around the Treasure Valley help us remember and honor the sacrifices made by our veterans. The Idaho State Veterans Cemetery has a very special event on Saturday at 9am. They will be unveiling a new bronze statue of two life sized veterans titled I ve Got Your Back . The statues was primarily created by Idaho artist Benjamin Victor, with help from others. Gov. Brad Little, former Gov. Dirk Kempthorne and other dignitaries will speak at the unveiling. Then on Monday at 10am at The Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, flags will be placed throughout the cemetery by the Young Marines.
