LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) A man has been ordered to stand trial on a homicide charge in the disappearance of a young Amish woman in Pennsylvania last summer.
LNP newspaper reports that a Lancaster County judge ruled Friday that prosecutors had presented sufficient evidence for the trial of 34-year-old Justo Smoker of Paradise in the disappearance of 18-year-old Linda Stoltzfoos, who was last seen walking home from church June 21 in the Bird-in-Hand area.
Prosecutors say no sign of her has been found since, and friends and family report that Stoltzfoos was happy with her life and had never expressed any desire to leave. In fact, they say, she had made plans to join others in a church youth group the day she disappeared. ....

Community rallies to help business after grease fire

Ron James and Retta Feller, the owners of Captain Ronâs Smokehouse and R&R Catering, are usually the first to post online about a new charitable effort or donation jar to support the valleyâs less fortunate, so when a grease fire destroyed their smoker and drink cooler on Saturday afternoon, the community was quick to respond with aid.
âItâs good karma,â Ron said on Monday. âThatâs what we do here, we take care of each other.â
Around 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, a customer at the BBQ shack started honking her horn and alerted Ron that smoke was coming from the rear of the small Driggs business. A grease fire had ignited in one of the smokers. ....

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Louisiana Department release a list of medical conditions that allows those who are 55 to get a COVID-19 vaccine, smoking is on that list.
Just a puff from a cigarette, and smokers over 55 jumped 3 million Louisianians who are still not eligible for a coronavirus vaccine.
Some people say the state is rewarding smokers for putting themselves at risk, but others say you can’t look at it that way. “So, I do think that it’s probably a great thing for people who are scared and want the vaccine, and they are truly at a higher risk to kind of help them get it. Well, certainly folks who smoke are putting themselves at risk but sometimes people that are smoking…it’s addictive, and they have a hard time quitting,” says Carlos Padial. ....
