54-year-old Robert Trella is charged with felony arson for allegedly setting his home on Pease Hill Road ablaze in a fire that was reported to authorities at 3:21 p.m. Monday.
There were no injuries but two dogs were removed from the property and placed in the care of the Broome County Humane Society.
The house was reported fully engulfed in flames when State Police officers arrived on the scene. Authorities have not said if the home is a total loss.
Troopers say Trella was arraigned via video and then released. He’s scheduled to appear in Town of Barker Court in March.

New York State Police and Broome County Fire Investigators are looking into the cause of a blaze that damaged a home on Pease Hill Road near Hyde Road in the Town of Barker December 28.
There are unofficial reports of an arrest made in connection with the fire that was reported at 3:21 p.m. and drew firefighters from a half dozen departments.

There were no injuries.
It appears the person who reported the fire was the one placed into custody a short time later. The investigation is continuing.
Crews from Lisle, Chenango Bridge, Triangle, Chenango, Whitney Point and Killawog were all called to the scene with other units on standby.
