In addition to registration assistance, the call center is available to answer questions citizens may have regarding where to find additional information on the vaccine or vaccination process. County Administrator Paul McCulla Fauquier County has opened a COVID-19 call center to help local residents register for the vaccine. The center can help people without computer access or who have trouble completing the appropriate survey on the Rappahannock Rapidan Health District website, County Administrator Paul McCulla said.

Fauquier COVID-19 cases total 3,513, up 20 Tuesday

• 3,513 total cases in Fauquier since the pandemic began — up 20 from Monday morning’s report. Fauquier County Public Schools has 16 active cases among staff members and 10 among students as of Monday morning. The school system had 49 employees in quarantine as of Friday, Jan. 29. • The total includes 408,421 confirmed and 101,959 “probable” infections. • 6,517 deaths statewide — up 43 from Monday. Of the total fatalities, the health department classifies COVID-19 as the confirmed cause in 5,684 and “probable” in 833. • 5,281,726 PCR diagnostic tests statewide — up 19,925 since Monday. Over the past seven days, 11.5 percent of those tests were positive, down slightly. Statewide hospitalizations for COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic totaled 21,516 as of Tuesday, up 72 since Monday.

County expecting 425 doses of COVID-19 vaccine weekly

Fauquier County healthcare providers will receive 425 first doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine per week over the next couple of months, according to the Virginia Department of Health district office. Fauquier Health each week will get 325 doses, with another 100 going to Piedmont Family Practice in Warrenton. The hospital and Piedmont will use the VDH database to contact and set appointments for those who have completed surveys on the health department website. The county allocation represents Fauquier and Rappahannock County’s share of the population within the five-county Rappahannock Rapidan Health District, which expects 925 doses of the Pfizer vaccine per week.

The ceremony normally takes place in the first-floor meeting room of the Warren Green Building in Warrenton. But because of COVID-19, the board last month agreed to conduct its December meeting at a larger venue to accommodate award recipients and their guests. The 24-minute presentation occurred at the Fauquier High School auditorium in Warrenton.
