PSNI 'used bodycams to film McCourt funeral in secret' - BelfastTelegraph.co.uk

The PSNI was secretly watching the funeral of IRA man Eamon Peggy McCourt in Londonderry this week over potential Covid breaches, it can be revealed.
A security source told the Belfast Telegraph that officers were at the funeral on Monday and were wearing discreet body cameras to record footage, which will now be reviewed.
The source added that there were initial plans to use a helicopter, drones or static cameras on Land Rovers to monitor the cortege. However these were ruled out for operational reasons.
It comes after First Minister Arlene Foster said on Thursday that she has raised concerns over 10 republican funerals and shows of strength since May 2019 - almost a year before Covid restrictions on funerals - with the Policing Board and PSNI Chief Constable Simon Byrne. ....

Carlisle hotel to be used to help ease COVID-19 pressures on hospitals

Carlisle hotel to be used to help ease COVID-19 pressures on hospitals
Carlisle’s Station Hotel will be used to help ease the pressure on the NHS during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Arrangements have been made to use the former Hallmark hotel, which has been closed for several months, for patients at the Cumberland Infirmary who are medically fit but not yet able to return home.
Due to the increasing pressures on the NHS and hospitals, it is hoped that the introduction of short-term temporary care accommodation will help.
People discharged into temporary care accommodation may be unable to return home because they have vulnerable family members who could be at risk until the individual has completed their self-isolation period, or because they are awaiting care or support packages to allow them to return to home. ....
