Use of the 11 acres on Dayton Boulevard where the former Red Bank Middle School was located on Dayton Boulevard was not on the agenda for the Red Bank Commission meeting Tuesday night. However, it was the topic that was most discussed. All members of the board of commissioners, and the city manager each said they have received emails and calls inquiring about its use. Several citizens participating in the Zoom meeting also spoke about that property which the city traded with the National Park Service 10 years ago. ....

The Red Bank Commission discussed backyard chickens during their Tuesday work session.
Mayor Hollie Berry said, “Our current ordinances allow livestock like chickens only on lots over two acres, but right now people are interested in keeping a handful of backyard chickens for eggs. And as you know, most lots in Red Bank are much less than two acres.”
City manager Tim Thornbury said he came up with a draft and has submitted it to the city attorney. He told the Commission he wanted to get the consensus of the board. Vice Mayor Stefanie Dalton said she is on-board with the idea of allowing chickens in smaller yards. ....

Red Bank Creates Zone For Blood Plasma Collection Centers; Gets 4 Proposals For Old School Property On Dayton Boulevard

The topic that prompted the most interest at the Red Bank Commission meeting Tuesday night was an ordinance that passed on the final reading that clarified rules regulating blood plasma collection centers. In the past summer, an application to locate one of these businesses on Dayton Boulevard in the Save A Lot building was turned down when the board of commissioners voted for a six-month moratorium to consider an appropriate location for such a business.
On Tuesday, the commissioners approved amending the city’s zoning ordinance to define where blood plasma collection businesses will be allowed. The approved zone is west of Highway 27 on Morrison Springs Road in the vicinity of other medical service businesses and on the opposite side of the road from any residences. The ordinance also ....

I wanted to write to you and thank you for the trust you have put in your Board of Commissioners as elected officials.
I have been a resident of Red Bank for 15 years. I have operated a successful business in Red Bank for the last 20 years. Over that time I have seen the city’s struggles and its triumphs. I have seen personally that the demographics of our city are changing. There are many younger people relocating to Red Bank. These residents will have priority access to parks and recreational opportunities. They will also patronize local businesses-such as going to a pub, getting fresh bread from a local bakery or ordering a delicious cup of coffee from their car. Truly, Red Bank has come a long way! ....
