From The Tribune staff reports JEFFERSON COUNTY The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified two people killed in a crash on Interstate 50, on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021. Montez Undra Tolbert, Jr., 25, of Bessemer, and Bishop Jones, 23, of Hueytown, were both pronounced dead on the scene near mile marker 118, in the area of Fairfield. The accident occurred at around 12:45 p.m. on Saturday when two vehicles sideswiped and lost control. The Chevrolet Cobalt that Tolbert and Jones were traveling in rolled over multiple times and traveled down an embankment and the two were ejected from the vehicle. Two others were transported to UAB Hospital with unknown injuries. ....

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Montez Undra Tolbert Jr., 25, of Bessemer, and Bishop Jones, 23, of Hueytown. The crash happened at 12:45 p.m. Saturday near the 118-mile marker in the southbound lanes of I-59. According to Alabama State Trooper Justin O’Neal, two vehicles sideswiped each other, causing one of them – a Chevrolet Cobalt - to lose control, run off the roadway and overturn. Tolbert and Jones were ejected from the vehicle. Both were pronounced dead on the scene at 12:46 p.m. ....
