Reconnaissance Energy Africa has begun drilling its first well in Namibia’s Kavango Basin.
The well, 6-2, is the first of three wells in northeast Namibia. The company intends to reach a total depth of 12,500 feet (3,810 metres). Drilling and initial analysis of the well should take 45 days.
We want to pay special tribute to Kate Davies who is retiring this month after over fifteen years of service. Our gratitude to Kate cannot be overstated, from her contributions to SAFCEI’s visionary beginnings, as a multi-faith environmental institution, to her guidance and depth of knowledge in recent years.
SAFCEI was founded from both the experiences that Kate had as an environmental educator and person of faith, and from those of Bishop Geoff Davies, a faith leader who cares passionately about the environment, and her husband. Kate and Geoff brought together the first multi-faith founding membership who shared their concerns in a meeting at Hartebeestpoort, and SAFCEI was born.
