STRATFORD Vaccine rates are climbing in Huron and Perth counties, but the area’s top doctor is calling on a specific group to seek their shot. Huron Perth Medical Office of Health Dr. Miriam Klassen says residents under the age of 40 haven’t been as proactive as getting vaccinated as people in older groups. “We are encouraging people in that age range to get their first dose as soon as possible and their second dose as well,” she said. The area has been able to keep COVID-19 cases relatively low since the start of the pandemic and currently has 75 per cent of the population with at least their first shot. ....

Council voted 8-0, with Councilwoman Jessica Cottrille absent, to approve the contract with United Bridge Partners of Colorado, which proposes giving the city $4 million for the span and commencing an approximately $50 million rehabilitation project to keep the bridge operational for at least another five decades. ....
[email protected] PARKERSBURG City Council will receive Mayor Tom Joyce’s proposed 2021-22 budget and consider an ordinance granting a B&O tax exemption for construction in newly annexed areas and for residential construction anywhere in Parkersburg. Joyce said the spending plan reflects areas of emphasis mentioned by council during a January workshop on priorities for the coming year and term. “There’s certainly adequate funding for continued demolition of problem properties,” along with street rehabilitation, he said. At the conclusion of Tuesday’s meeting, council will resolve into the Committee of the Whole for budget hearings set to begin on Monday, March 8, with council Vice President Sharon Kuhl presiding. ....
