NE Montana: Red Flag Warning, 50 MPH Winds Possible Friday WHAT: A RED FLAG WARNING is in effect for several northeast Montana counties WHEN: This Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11am Friday morning until 9pm Friday night. CONDITIONS: These areas will see very warm temperatures, combined with extremely gusty winds. WHERE: The area around Havre will probably experience the strongest winds on Friday. Hill and Blaine Counties are included. Fire conditions exist all day on Friday. (Several other area have their own Warning but with lesser winds.) WIND: expected winds from 20 mph to 30 mph, gusts up to 50 mph are possible ....
“Lost in the Sandhills” tour remembering two little girls lost in the Sandhills May 10 th, 1891 will take place Sunday, May 16 th beginning Thedford and ending in Dunning. Tillie and Retta Haumann were picking wildflowers on a Sunday afternoon when they became lost and drifted east though Thomas County and into Blaine County of central Nebraska. Communities came together to search for the girls. Retta age 4 was found alive the following Wednesday but sadly Tillie age 8 wasn’t found until a week later. She was approximately 26 miles from her family homestead but it was estimated that she had walked 75 miles up, down and around many hills during her journey. ....

WIND: across much of Montana, winds will continue between 15 mph and 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph through Thursday evening.
