Former-Black Bears To Play For Boston Teams Jeremy Swayman became the ninth former-UMaine hockey player to suit up for the Bruins when he made his NHL debut Tuesday night with a stellar 40-save win. That got me thinking. Who are the other former-Black Bears to turn out for Boston s pro teams? After many hours of research I ve compiled the rest of the list, which includes eight Black Bears turned Bruins, four Black Bears turned Patriots and Red Sox and even the first-ever Black Bear to go pro in any sport, who played for the Boston Braves franchise in the 19th century. ....
Friday: Ontario Reign Projected Lineup vs Roadrunners, Turcotte Moving Positions Like in the NHL, most of 2021 has seen the Ontario Reign playing two-game sets vs. other AHL teams. However, this weekend it will be a rare pair of back-to-back games against different opponents. First up, is a rematch with the visiting Roadrunners on Friday night. They met up in mid-February for two games, with Tucson claiming one-goal victories each time. Henderson arrives in SoCal for a game with Ontario on Saturday night, but we’ll hold off on discussing that any further for now. In front of the Reign is an important game with the Roadrunners, one in which they’ll have leading point producer Rasmus Kupari back in the lineup. And, from what we’ve been able to gather, Alex Turcotte will be sliding over to play left wing alongside of him tonight. ....
Back to practice, Insiders! The Kings hit the ice this afternoon at Gila River Arena in Arizona for a skate before tomorrow’s rematch against the Coyotes. With no morning skate scheduled for tomorrow, considering the earlier start time, this will be the last time the Kings take the ice in advance of Game 2 of 6 on the road trip. Looking at today’s group, the Kings were one man short of full participation. As Lisa Dillman of The Athletic first reported, Jaret Anderson-Dolan suffered an upper-body injury last night against the Coyotes. He returned to the game last night, was evaluated earlier today and did not practice with the team today. Per Todd McLellan this afternoon, Anderson-Dolan will not be available for the Kings tomorrow in Arizona, and we’ll get a sense of his availability on the rest of the road trip over the next couple of days. ....
Colorado Comes up Short in 2-1 Loss at Ontario Feb 17, 2021 EL SEGUNDO, CA. – Colorado forward Shane Bowers scored the team’s lone goal as Colorado fell to the Ontario Reign, 2-1 on Wednesday. Reign forwards Arthur Kaliyev and Blaine Byron each found the back of the net. Colorado goaltender Trent Miner made his second-consecutive start in net, making 37 saves on 39 shots in the loss.
Each team would earn a power play in the early stages of the contest, but neither side would be able to capitalize. The game’s first big opportunity came on a shorthanded rush down the ice by Reign forward Samuel Fagemo, who would be hooked from behind, leading to a penalty shot at the 8:24 mark of the first period. Fagemo would be denied by a save with the right leg pad from Miner and the contest would remain scoreless. ....
