The pilot project, will allow users to book a ride, through an app, and request transit at any time. Bus users will be able to book their ride through the free Blaise Transit mobile app available on Apple Store and Google Play. They will be able to use the app to request transit at any time, and requests can also be made by telephone. Riders will then be matched with others who have similar trips, and a bus will be dispatched to serve them. ....

Photo supplied by UMIT United Manitoulin Islands Transit is teaming up with Blaise Transit to pilot an on-demand passenger bus service on Manitoulin Island. Johanna Berti, the executive director of United Manitoulin Islands Transit says the partnership will including implementing Blaise Transit’s rideshare software on their vehicles, which will provide on-demand passenger bus service. She says the pilot project includes services between South Bay, Wiikwemkoong, Manitowaning and other communities on Manitoulin Island. Berti says the service now makes two runs a day across the northern and central areas of Manitoulin, so the addition of the on-demand service will blanket the Island. ....
