Peterborough Public Health reports COVID-19 death linked to residence outbreak

Peterborough Public Health has announced today that a man living at Severn Court Residence in Peterborough, is the youngest person to die from COVID-19 in the region.
The health unit says that the man was in his 30s and had been living at the residence which is privately owned. He reportedly contacted COVID-19 and was in hospital in Toronto.
Severn Court Residence was the site of a large social gathering on February 20. The health unit says that now 59 cases have been linked to it. Staff with the health unit not that as of today there are only five active cases linked to the outbreak. ....

Human trafficking is a heinous crime that devastates victims, survivors, their families, communities and society as a whole. It also disproportionately affects women and girls, as well as vulnerable and marginalized individuals. The
Government of Canada is committed to ending human trafficking in all its forms, including sexual exploitation and forced labour.
Today, the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, the Honourable Bill Blair, and the Minister for Women and Gender Equality, the Honourable Maryam Monsef, announced almost
$300,000 over four years to
Fleming College for their project entitled Sex Trafficking Awareness Visuals and Training Materials Targeting Oppressed Female-Identified Young Persons. This funding is made available under the Contribution Program to Combat Serious and Organized Crime. ....
