When Vince Witherup joined Conair Group, the company was only making about $1 million a year in sales, but when he retired in 2007 it was making $160 million per year.
Regardless of the clock, Vince Witherup worked.
It wasn t something he dreaded, it was something called work ethic. He learned the value of hard work early in life.
From humble beginnings in Franklin, Pa., Witherup molded himself a career after working from the age of 8. He put Conair Group on the map. He served two terms as a local county commissioner.
Witherup is also one of 10 inductees to the 2021 Plastics Hall of Fame, presented by the Plastics Academy.

The new members represent an array of disciplines and come from all across the globe.
The Plastics Academy announced 10 new members of the Plastics Hall of Fame on Dec. 18. Representing an array of disciplines and coming from all across the globe, the new members were scheduled to be formally inducted during an awards gala at NPE2021 in May, but the The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) founded the Hall of Fame to recognize the industry leaders who make up this impactful industry, and we are continuing the rich tradition by honoring those who shine in their careers and contribute to science and society,” said PLASTICS President and CEO Tony Radoszewski.
