Swans Rescued From Freezing Plano Pond Released One Week Later


“I ve learned more about swans, it s the craziest thing,” Kula said.
Last week, when wild winter weather froze the pond, it left the swans stranded.
“Really what else can you do but say a prayer?” Kula asked. “I just said, ‘Good lord, if a good positive outcome can happen let that happen. I didn t know what that would be and then fortunately our white knights with the Plano Fire Department and Plano Animal Services arrived the following morning and helped out.”

Firefighters and police officers are among the first in line for the COVID-19 vaccine in Texas, but
NBC 5 Investigates has learned that many first responders in the Dallas-Fort Worth area have chosen to not get vaccinated yet, even though they are considered high-risk because of their constant contact with the public.
Despite their status in group 1A, giving them priority access to COVID-19 vaccines, more than 50% of first responders have skipped their turn in line to get the vaccine at some local departments.
The reluctance is causing health officials to worry about the safety of first responders while also wondering if people on the front lines are skipping the vaccine, how do they convince the rest of the community to get it. ....

PLANO, Texas - The Plano fire chief is out of the hospital and thanking all of the people who supported him while he was battling COVID-19.
Fire Chief Sam Greif had a tough battle with the virus. At times he struggled to breathe just speaking a few words.
He became emotional as he got to hug his wife Rosemary for the first time in more than two weeks. ....

I ve never spent 16 days in my home before without leaving, Greif said. I remember seeing my wife at the back of that ambulance, her crying so hard and I was crying. if there s one thing that is gonna haunt me, that visual will stay with me the rest of my life, said Greif.
Medical City Plano released a video showing Plano Fire Chief Sam Greif getting emotional as he’s discharged from the hospital after battling COVID-19. He thanked the staff and urged everyone to do what they can to avoid getting coronavirus.
