According to listeners of the K-LOVE radio network, the most inspiring worship song last year was Waymaker, a collaboration featuring Beaver Falls native Vanessa Campagna.
Those coast-to-coast listeners voted Waymaker as Worship Song of the Year in last Sunday s K-LOVE Awards, an event honoring achievements in contemporary Christian music. It’s such a cool thing to even be nominated for Worship Song of the Year, let alone win it, Campagna said of the single released by internationally known Nashville singer Michael W. Smith, on which she s listed as a featured vocalist.
There are more than 500 K-Love stations nationally, including WPKV-FM (98.3) in Pittsburgh and WLKH-FM (97.7) in Somerset.
For most decisions in life, it s smart to be thoughtful clever, even, to sit and stir, mull things over, or really take time to plan and ponder.
But the continuing spread of COVID-19 has put the decision to get vaccinated on a clock, and local and national leaders say it s running out.
This past week President Joe Biden announced his goal to at least partially vaccinate 70% of U.S. adults by July 4. With more than 56% of the population already there, reeling in another 14% over two months seems a simple task. However, a large amount of vaccine hesitation is making things difficult, and Beaver County is at its center.
BEAVER FALLS Blackhawk High School has closed after an eighth case of COVID-19 was reported in the building.
According to a letter from Superintendent Robert Postupac, leaders in the state s Department of Health recommended the closure due to an unsafe number of cases in a 14-day period. Currently, Blackhawk High School has 8 positive COVID cases. All contact tracing has been completed and all areas have been sanitized, Postupac said in the letter. However, an epidemiologist from the Department of Health has directed Blackhawk High School to close for the remainder of this week based on the number of cases over the past 14 days.
