BLACKFOOT, Idaho (KIFI) – The Eastern Idaho State Fair, in partnership with Butler Amusements, Inc., announced six finalists who have been awarded a $1,000 scholarship to the college of their choice.
A five-member scholarship committee selected the winners out of the numerous commendable applicants.
“We were so impressed this year in the quality of applicants that we received. This year’s decision was the most difficult that we have ever had to work through. The applicants came from all over our 16 County Fair Districts. We look forward to seeing the future success of these scholarship winners,” EISF General Manager Brandon Bird said.
Blackfoot High School shelter in place lifted
BLACKFOOT, Idaho (KIFI) - Blackfoot School District Superintendent Brian Kress said a shelter in place at Blackfoot High School has been lifted.
Kress said in a letter to parents that students and staff were asked to shelter in place Thursday morning after school administration was made aware that a former student was on campus, and they were unable to locate the student.
He said no students were in danger, and this was done out of caution. The individual has been located off site.
Classes and activities have resumed.

School election results for March 9
EAST IDAHO (KIFI) - Four school board members will keep their positions after an attempt to remove them failed.
Pocatello-Chubbuck School District board trustees Jackie Cranor, Janie Gebhardt, and Dave Mattson were up for recall because of their handling of the hybrid schedule and the changing of the Pocatello Indians mascot.
Idaho Falls School District 91 board member Elizabeth Cogliati also will keep her seat.
While many of the supplemental levies were approved by voters, Bonneville School District 93 s supplemental levy and plant facilities levy failed.
Meanwhile, two school bonds did pass in Bingham County. The Blackfoot School District will use the bond to replace Stoddard Elementary and create an atrium at Blackfoot High School. The Shelley School District will use their bond to renovate Goodsell Elementary school and other repairs at buildings in the school district.

BLACKFOOT Voters in the Blackfoot School District will soon decide on a $23.9 million proposal to fund a new elementary school and career-technical high school.
If passed, the March 9 measure would repurpose I.T. Stoddard Elementary School into a career technical high school and allow the district to build a new elementary school nearby, Superintendent Brian Kress told EdNews Monday.
Blackfoot Technical Education Center would become an extension of Blackfoot High. The new elementary school would be built on nearby Walker Street and serve some 450 kids.
