OU Student Government Association to host, moderate virtual Norman City Council candidate debates

OUâs Student Government Association is holding a forum for Norman City Council candidates from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m Friday via Zoom.
According to an email sent by OU SGA, the forum will be divided into five wards moderated by SGA members. Candidates from each ward will have a 20-minute discussion.Â Â
Ward 1 candidates Chris Lewis and Brandi Studley will debate from 6:35 p.m. to 6:55 p.m. followed by Ward 2 candidates John Argo and Matt McGarry from 7:00 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. Ward 3 candidate Sam Talley will answer questions from 7:25 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., then Ward 5 candidates Billy Davison and Michael Nash will debate from 7:50 p.m. to 8:10 p.m. and Ward 7 candidates Stephen Holman, Monica Marsh and Christopher Jourden will close the event from 8:15 p.m. to 8:35 p.m. ....

Editor s Note:Â This is the fourth in a series of articles each week that will focus on every race for the Norman City Council elections.
Over the past year, the Norman City Council Ward 5 seat has dealt with significant conflict, including the attempted recall and eventual resignation of Sereta Wilson.
Michael Nash was selected by a committee to replace Wilson on the council and is now seeking reelection. Three other candidates are running against Nash: Billy Davison, Rarchar Tortorello and Lisa Meyer.

17 candidates declare for Norman City Council

The last day to file as a candidate for Norman City Council is over, with 17 Norman residents declaring candidacy for the race set for Feb. 9.
Five seats are up for election this year. In a normal election year, there would only be four seats on the table, but due to the passing of former Ward 2 Councilman David Perry, his seat is now up for election.
The 17 candidates are spread relatively evenly among the wards, with no one candidate running unopposed: Ward 1 has three candidates, Ward 2 has four candidates, Ward 3 has three candidates, Ward 5 has four candidates and Ward 7 has three candidates. ....
