Friends, family urge local businesswoman to keep fighting after disturbing crash

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Friends and family gathered in Historic Richmondtown Tuesday night to urge the victim of a horrific car crash to continue fighting.
A Facebook stream of the candlelight vigil allowed Diana Petrone to be part of the ceremony from her hospital bed at Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze, where she’s been since the crash occurred Dec. 12 in New Springville.
Billy Contreras, a friend of Petrone’s and president of the Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) organization to which she belongs, said about 10 minutes before the vigil started that they received good news Petrone may have had movement below her neck for the first time since entering the hospital. ....
