Man dies in Harrisburg’s third homicide of 2021

A 35-year-old man died Tuesday night from a chest wound in the area of 13th and Kittatinny streets, police said Wednesday.
Officers were called to the area about 11:30 p.m., where they located the wounded man. Police did not say whether the chest wound was from a gunshot or stabbing.
The man died from his injuries at the scene.
The death marked the third homicide for the city so far this year. Harrisburg recorded five homicides during the same time frame last year.

A Houston man who was in Harrisburg for work was shot in the head March 6 and later died from his injuries, police announced Tuesday.
The March 12 death of Christopher J. Hill, 26, who was known as CJ, marked the second homicide so far this year in the city.
Police said he drove trucks for a living, had no criminal history and was in town for his job.
He was in a friend’s car Saturday night March 6, about 11:45 p.m., when he was shot and the vehicle crashed in the 200 block of Division Street.

A man was fatally shot Mon., Jan. 11, 2021, outside Antonio s Grocery at Sixth and Woodbine streets in Harrisburg, police said.

Billy Grier, 50, was homeless and struggling with an untreated mental illness.
He ran into an old friend on Christmas and said he finally got set up with a social worker who was going to help him get treatment for his condition.
But Grier died before he could get the help he had been waiting for.
Someone fatally shot Grier Monday as he stood among several other people outside a corner store at North Sixth and Woodbine streets, where he was known to visit each day. Prosecutors don’t believe he was the intended target.
