American Gods has
wandered away somewhat from the “Coming To America” stories since the first season, but this week, the series returns to the concept, though not entirely from the usual angle. This week’s god, Tu’er Shen (Daniel Jun), known as the rabbit god and the deity of same-sex love in China, has already been in America for 100 years when we meet him in 1951. He’s on the run and given shelter at the Grand Peacock Inn by its transgender proprietor, Toni (Dana Aliya Levinson), who recognizes one of the cops chasing him as a closet case from her past life. As a thank you, Tu’er Shen blesses the inn as his new temple, declaring it will run for decades to come. And lo, it still stands today, as Laura and Salim pull up in their hearse. ....

After half a season of service, somehow, this is the moment Cordelia decides to have a breakdown and threaten to quit working for Wednesday. (I feel like it’s less the straw that broke the camel’s back and more exhaustion from constant straw production, but never mind.) LAHORE: Pakistan’s towering philanthropist and humanitarian Bilquis Edhi has been declared the ‘Person of the Decade’, along with human rights rapporteur of the UN Prof Yanghee Lee, and the US ethicist Stephen Soldz.
A spokesperson for the Edhi Foundation told APP that as per the domino effect verdict, announced on Friday by the Impact Hallmarks© [IH], Bilquis Edhi was declared the most impactful person of the first two decades of the 21st century. Bilquis Bano Edhi is a professional nurse and she heads the Bilquis Edhi Foundation. She has spent more than six decades of her life in serving the humanity in need. Her charity has saved over 42,000 unwanted babies so far, by placing ‘jhoolas’ [cradles] at the Edhi Homes and centres across the country. ....

LAHORE: Philanthropist and humanitarian Bilquis Edhi and certain research contributions by a Pakistani scientist have been shortlisted by an international organisation ‘Impact Hallmarks©’, among the top 20 persons, objects and works, having far-extending impacts in diverse fields and extents of human accomplishments. According to press releases, issued by the Edhi Foundation Pakistan and SAARC-ASEAN Post-Doctoral Academia Directorate, separately, after the shortlisting process, an online opinion poll for global audience is being carried out currently to vote for the “Person of Decade”, based upon the impact value the person holds.
